| Intruder Alarms Leicester - Monitored Systems |
Monitored alarms and CCTV systems are a vital part of ensuring the security of your home or your business. It's all very well to have a burglar alarm fitted, that will if activated annoy the hell out of your neightbours until one of them calls the police. The problem is, if your alarm is a condition of your insurance, or you are expecting to get a better deal because you have an alarm fitted, then this isn't going to do much goood, even if you are in a Neighbourhood Watch area. And it especially won't help if you are lucky enough to have found a lovely, characterful cottage or farmhouse out in the countryside, particularly if your nearest neighbour is a good fifteen minutes walk away.
What's worse is that police won't do anything unless the presence of a criminal is confirmed by an actual human. This means that someone could break in, help themselves, stroll off, and when the police finally arrive it's to arrest you for your alarm system causing a public nuisance.
To be fair, this is a little hard on the police, but even if they are having a quiet night, they can't spend their time chasing after every false alarm. This is where remote monitoring comes in. As soon as your intruder alarm is activated a signal is sent by telephone to a dedicated monitoring centre. Manned twenty four hours a day, the staff at the monitoring centre respond to intruder alarms being activated. As soon as the alarm signal is received they can connect to microphones connected to your intruder alarm system and listen in (or, if you have CCTV they can patch into the feed and watch), to check to see if there is an actual break in. If it confirmed that a break in has occured, they will contact the police and then contact you. If there isn't they will contact you and let you know that there has been a false alarm.
Of course, the burglar could be a fan of old spy movies and try to cut your phone line before attempting to break in. The big problem with those old spy movies is that they were generally made before mobile phones were invented. Mobile technology means that your intruder alarm is going to be able to contact the monitoring service even if the phone line has been cut. See some more information about the Redcare communications technology, available with our intruder alarm systems.
